Individual therapy for adults

 

What happens in a therapy session?

The first 1-2 sessions will focus on getting to know you.

As we come to a shared understanding of your goals, we will work together on strategies specifically tailored to help you move towards those goals.

Learning new strategies requires practice; so I will often ask you to practice different skills in between our appointments. We will then use some of the time in our appointments to reflect on how these strategies have worked for you.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on what your goals are.

Short term therapies with a skills focus may require between 6-10 sessions.

If you’d like to work on longer term difficulties or make significant changes, we may work together for 6-12 months.

Generally, the more you are able to practice what we discuss in sessions in between our appointments, the faster the progress.
